reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
August 23, 2009

Lake is 2 inches above pool level and water temps are 80 to 84 degree range.

Bluegill: Slow....Slow...Should pick back up next week.

Crappie: Good. The crappie bite is good with some nice slabs caught on minnows or jigs tipped with minnows in 4-15' water. Slow trolling

Bass: Remains good. They were hitting a variety of baits. Spinnerbaits, tubes, and about any of your favorite lures might produce.

Catfish: Excellent. The best catches are coming from  the grassy shorelines. Some boats  have continued to score while jug fishing and allowing their floating bait buffets to drift in the wind and entice a few fish. Chicken livers, stinkbait, hotdogs and nightcrawlers have been the baits of choice.

Stripes (yellow bass) Excellent on grassy shorelines.  Pin minnows fished about 18" deep on a slip bobber should work well. Try early or late in the day. You will often find them chasing shad on the surface at these times.
