reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
January 6th, 2006

There hasn't been much fishing news to report lately, as most folks are chasing ducks in these part. This week we did get some news and it's good news for crappie fishermen. Crappie fishing has been good with some good sized fish being caught.

Anglers are having success in the deeper areas (10-15 feet) of the lower blue basin. Minnows have been the bait of choice. The fish are bunched up tight. Once you pick up a fish or two, hold in the area for a while and you're liable to catch plenty more.

The winter fishing is often overlooked, but die hard anglers know that it's a great time to catch a mess of slabs. Just watch out for the wind. When fishing the deep water, you're exposed to the wind and it can get nasty out there this time of year. This isn't the season to be taking a swim, so keep an eye on the weather.

It doesn't really matter if the weather is warm or cold this time of year. You can still catch them if the wind will let you out there.

No reports on other species.

Good Fishin!
