MARCH....WELCOME APRIL WITH OPEN ARMS
Jackie Wayne's back with another fishing report. Well
water temp is in the high 50's, and water level is above pool.
Everything is looking great.
Boat ramps are all in good shape, thanks to TWRA.
Black crappie are spawning at this time in 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 feet of water.
Their being caught on Strike King Tube grubs tipped with wax worms and
minnows, casting or jigging.
White Crappie are pre-spawn at this time so their moving into 6 to 8
feet of water. Their biting on minnows on double hook rigs or Strike
King jigs with tubes, grubs, or spinners.
They are real close to the stumps and logs in 6 to 8 feet of water. You
need to fish slow right now but when it warms up you can move up your
speed of the trolling motor to .03 to .06.
Lower Blue Basin is doing good so is Upper Blue Basin.
Bass are being caught around trees in 4 to 6 feet of water on jigs, worms
and spinner baits. They are starting to move into shallow water and duck
Blinds in 3 to 5 feet of water is also good with jigs or spinners.
The ditches are also good at this time for bass and crappie. Bluegill are
still slow but it wont be long now.
Catfish are also slow to good on worms and cut bait. Yellow Bass are doing
good on minnows in 3 to 6 feet of water.
I've been catching a great number of black crappie this year more than
the last 3 years.
So have fun...Be safe...Gone Fishing
