reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
April 14th, 2006

Nice warm temperatures, the middle of April, no cold fronts in the immediate forecast, that's all you need to know about Reelfoot fishing right now. Get our there when you can.

Wind has played a role, but now that the crappie are shallow it's not hard to find an accessible spot for them. Bluegill are doing well. Bass has tapered off a bit lately. Catfish are biting.

Lake level is and inch or so above pool level. Water temperature is at 69 degrees. Here's the rest:

Crappie - Still excellent. Anglers are really doing well with bedded fish right now. Find a good spawning area and you should catch some  fish. Places to try include shorelines, grasslines and ditches, just to name a few.

Depths of 4-8 feet are really producing some nice catches. Minnows and jigs should both work well.

Largemouth - Fair. It has slowed down this week as many have spawned already.

Bluegill - Good. Popeye jigs tipped with waxworms are producing well. Crickets are starting to produce also. Try around the trees for good acton.

Catfish - Good or better. Try around trees, logs, outside of pads and other structure out from the shoreline.

Cut shad, shad gut, nightcrawlers and stinkbait are all producing.

Crappie fishermen are even bringing in 4-5 a day on minnows.

Yellow Bass - No reports.
