reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
June 2, 2012

CATFISH BITING ALL OVER THE LAKE...CRAPPIE AND BASS ACTION GOOD

Reelfoot Lake anglers got a break this week from the heat. A cool front rolled in and dropped some much needed rain.

Reelfoot Lake is 3-4" below pool level. Surface temp is in the 76-78 degree range. Water color remains clear to light green stain.

Bluegill: Good: The bluegill are still on the beds around the shoreline in 3-5' water. Biting good on crickets, wax worms and jigs. When the bite slows toss a red wiggler worm with a split shot. Bounce the bait on the bottom through the bed.

Crappie: Good: .The crappie action has picked up this week and should continue to improve throughout the month of June. Some good catches reported in 12-16' water fishing 6' deep. The crappie liked the baits moving. They are hitting both jigs and double minnow rigs. Remember, the limit is 30 Crappie per day per man. There are no size limits on Reelfoot Lake.

Bass: Good:  Anglers are finding big numbers of fish along the shoreline. The better fish are coming from deeper logs and trees in 4-8' water.

Catfish: Great: The catfish are biting all over the lake. Blocks, yo-yos, trotlines, rod and reel are all catching fish. Stink bait and night crawlers are both working.

Stripes: Catching some while crappie fishing.
