reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
June 26th, 2008

We're getting into real summertime now. The weather is warming up and the water is warming up (82 degrees). Despite this fact, the crappie are doing ok lately. The bluegill are also doing ok and of course the catfish are doing very well (They love the heat).

The lake level is at pool level. Here's the rest:

Crappie - Crappie have bounced back lately and the crappie fishing would be considered good. Don't know how long it will last, so get out there while you can.

They are being caught in the deeper water (10+ feet) on minnows and are pretty bunched up right now.

Bass - Bass fishing has been fair along the shorelines with spinnerbaits and plastic worms. Chartreuse and white, or come combination thereof, has worked well on spinnerbaits. Grape color has worked well on the worms.

Bluegill - After a little bit of a slowdown, the bluegill have picked up again. Would be considered good lately. Crickets are the top bait.

For fishing crickets, Jackie uses a small slip bobber, a #6 long shank bluegill hook and a small split shot. The split shot is about BB size, but use whatever size you need to go with the bobber your're using.

Around the trees, edges  of bonnets and underwater stumps are good areas. Spend a little time finding them and you should get a nice mess of em'.

Catfish - Catfihsing continues to be excellent and probably will be for a while. Shad, nightcrawlers and stinkbait are all working.

They're being caught in a variety of depths and on a variety of structure.

Stripes (Yellow Bass) - No reports.

Good Fishing to All!
