reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
August 7th, 2006

I've been a little behind on updates, thanks to good old computer problems. But honestly, you haven't missed much. It's hot out there and not many people are fishing right now. The few that are out there aren't faring very well.

August is a miserable time in West Tennessee. Too hot to fish, too hot to golf kinda thing. It looks to be hot for the foreseeable future, so catch up on some home repairs or sleep or something and dream of the beautiful fall weather that's not too far away.

If there is a bright spot, the catfishing is pretty  good. They don't mind the heat and have been biting early and late in the day.

Water temperature was at 88 a couple of days ago. Lake level is a few inches below pool. Here's the brief fishing report.

Crappie- Slow.

Bass- Slow. Jackie said they went out and caught 2 the other day.

Bluegill- Slow. Reports of 5 bluegill a day have been heard. You know it's bad when you can't even catch a bream.

Catfish- Ok, you've been waiting for some kind of good news. Well, leave it to our whiskered friends to bring a little action. Catfishing would be considered good right now. Shad have been working well. Keep them in the cooler and try to keep them flat, so they don't curl up on you. The cats don't seem to like that.

Stripes (Yellow bass)- No reports.
