TROUT FISHING ANYONE? STOCKING RETURNS TO PARIS PARKS AND RECREATION
LAKE
Anyone for some winter trout fishing? If so, you won’t have far to go as
you can wet a hook at several spots across the region throughout
December and on into January and February.
You won’t have to have a boat or chest waders either. No swift streams
to wade or turbulent rivers to cross.
It’s trout time in Tennessee and each winter Tennessee Wildlife
Resources Agency stocks trout across the area in various locations. This
year the agency plans to release some 90,000 rainbow trout and stockings
were already in progress this week.
Trout were released Wednesday at Paris Parks and Recreation Lake located
just off Volunteer Drive. The lake is marked with signs adjacent to
hiking trails. The fish are hungry and waiting for you to toss a bait
their direction too.
There will be another stocking on January 13th as well.
Other locations in the area receiving trout this week and again in
January will be McKenzie’s City Park Lake, Martin City Lake, and Union
City’s Reelfoot Packing Plant Lake.
The program provides numerous close to home trout fishing opportunities
for anglers during the winter months. These fisheries also provide a
great opportunity to introduce children or first-time anglers to
fishing.
The trout will average about 10 inches in length. The daily creel limit
is seven, but there is no size limit.
