Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for: We're back for spring 2007. Sorry about the lack of fishing reports over the winter. The ducks kept flying and the fishermen kept hunting. We just couldn't get enough information to post any kind of accurate report. The crappie were probably biting, but we really couldn't say with any authority. That's all behind us. Jackie's back fishing, as are most of the others. It's still early and the wintry weather is playing a big part. When it's nice out there the crappie fishing is doing well. Jackie had a good trip yesterday fishing 4-5 feet deep with purple and black jigs in the bonnet stems. The crappie are averaging good size (3/4 - 1 1/2 lb), as they usually do this time of year. The deeper parts of the lake should also produce (10+ feet) dragging minnows. The weather is dictating the fishing. Cold fronts and windy weather make it hard to fish during February. Look for some stable weather and get after them if you can. The lake level is around 3 inches above pool level. We don't have an actual water temperature. It should be about 44. No reports on other species.
