April  18, 2014

APRIL WEATHER SLOWING DOWN THE SPAWN

Jack's back, Crappie are slow to good at this time. Weather is not doing us any good, its still slowing down the spawn.

Crappie are being caught in lower blue basin in 8 to14 " of water on minnows rigs, jigs, colors are changing day to day. Make sure you fish slow I mean real slow. Their also being caught around trees in 2 to 4 feet of water on jig tips with wax worms.

Water temp is in the low 50's to hi. 60's depending on weather. Were catching crappie now that are 1 to 2 lbs. in weight. The size is good.

Bass are slow to good on jig and pig, spinners, top water baits. Trees in 3 to 5 feet of water is best, also being caught in ditches.

Catfish are good, use cut shad, chicken livers and worms. Trees in 3 to 5 feet are best at this time.

Blue gill are still slow.

Yellow bass are also slow.

Weather is the reason fishing is so slow, it will turn and fishing will be great just hang on. Enjoy the lake, It's beautiful out here and thank God for it.

Thanks, GONE FISHING!
