reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
April 19, 2011

Reelfoot Lake is 8" above pool level. Water color is in good shape all over the lake. Surface temps this week were 60 to 62 degree range.

Bluegill: Good: Starting to catch a few around the bonnets and trees close to shore.

Crappie: Good: Reports coming in with catches of 30-50 fish a day being caught in 7' water. Several dark males are being caught in shallow water. Peak spawning phases usually occur once water reaches that 62 to 66 degree range. Baits of choice have been trolling double rigs with minnows and jigs. Some fish are being caught jigging the bonnets, grass and trees in 2-4' water. Remember, the limit is 30 Crappie per day per man. There are no size limits on Reelfoot Lake.

Bass: Good: Some nice largemouth are being caught around the shallow trees and stumps. The rising surface temps have stimulated the bass to move up in their prespawn phase.

Catfish: Good: The bite is good in the ditches with current. Its also yo-yo time.

Stripes: Slow: Catching some while crappie fishing
