Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for: Bluegill and catfishing remain excellent. Bass fishing is good. Crappie fishing is slow. We've had some rather mild weather this week and anglers have been taking advantage. As Jackie said, "The bluegill fishing has been unreal". Before the summer doldrums hit, get out there and experience some fast action with Reelfoot's famous bluegill fishing...or catfishing....or bass fishing. It's all been good this week.. Lake level is still about a half foot above pool stage (nice healthy level heading into July). Water temps were at 80 degrees on Wednesday. Here's the rest: Bluegill: Remains excellent. They're still catching them on the beds in anywhere from 2-5 feet of water. Crickets and jigs tipped with waxworms are both working well. Do a little casting to find a good bed then just stay there and bring em in til they finally slow down. After that, start searching again. Crappie: Slow. That's about all we can say about it. Bass: Been good this week. Same old baits (spinnerbaits, tubes, crankbaits, top waters) in the same old areas (around the pads, mouths of ditches, points and shorelines). Jackie said the first place he'd start would probably be around the grassy shorelines. Just to give you an idea. Jackie has guided 5 bass trips lately and his slowest day was 22. That's some good bassin by any standards. Catfish: Excellent. Ditches are still producing well, but really almost any area is producing well right now. While we were getting our fishing report from Jackie, a little boy caught a nice 3 pounder right off the dock at Blue Bank Resort. Whether you're in a boat or fishing the banks, you can catch some catfish at Reelfoot right now. Stripes (yellow bass) - No reports this week.
