reelfoot lake fishing report

Reelfoot Lake Fishing Report for:
June 9th, 2007

The fishing has slowed down a bit as of late. Jackie still thinks another good run on bluegill is ahead, but even the bluegill have slowed this week. North winds and plenty of them have probably contributed more than anything to the current state of things.

The lake level is a few inches below pool level. Water temperature is 78 degrees. Here's the rest:

Crappie - Fair. Not great fishing right now, but you can still catch a mess to eat. They are in a variety of depths ranging from 3-14 feet. You've got to cover a lot of water. Minnows are really working well for the bait, out producing jigs significantly right now.

Bass - Fair. The best fishing has been early, say up until 10-11. Spinnerbaits are the top bait, but shallow running crankbaits should work well also. Hit the grass and trees around the shoreline.

Bluegill - Fair. They have really slowed with the north winds this past week. Jackie is still bringing in 30-40 per day, but not tearing them up like he had been.

Catfish - Fair to good. Nightcrawlers, stinkbait, shad gut and many other baits should work. Around the trees and showing logs (logs sticking up out in the lake) are good spots.

Weird thing is that the jug fishermen haven't been catching hardly any lately despite the fishing being ok.

Good Fishing!
