Tennessee hunters are lucky to have 16 wildlife management areas (WMAs) available for various hunting opportunities. Some offer waterfowl hunts, some deer hunting and most offer small game hunting. Each area has separate rules and regulations, so make sure before you hunt that you check the specific regulations for the area and for the species you're after. Regulations for each WMA can be found on the TWRA's website. You can find a list of them...on this page (note: in adobe pdf format). General maps of each wildlife management area in West Tennessee are also available...on this page Even better yet, you can purchase more detailed maps of each WMA for a very reasonable price. Information to purchase these maps is available...on this page With the skyrocketing prices for deer and waterfowl leases, it's good to have so much public land available. Many of these areas do receive considerable hunting pressure. But, if you spend the time, I'm sure you can find an area away from other hunters that will suit your needs. I've hunted many of them myself and can assure you that there is some great hunting to be had. |
